Wheel alignment necessary?

The oil change was good. No issue there. I'm sharing a concern with the wheel alignment. Chris recommended it over the phone. I usually am in the shop waiting for oil service but instead dropped off my car. In the past, I was shown a report of why I need an alignment. All they asked me if I hit the a curb. I said yes. I was charged $125. I missed to get a copy of the wheel alignment report when I left the shop. . I later called Chris and asked him to email it. Five days later I followed up as I had not received the email. He said there was no paper in the printer that's why he did not email it. I told him that I'd like to get a report for my record. How do I know if the alignment was done since have no record. I'm wondering if I really needed one. Secondly, did they really do a wheel alignment? Third, I thought the wheel alignment was free since I bought my tires there. I was surprised it was $125. Hmm. I was not made aware of the cost. I'll be bringing my car Nov 11th. Not happy.
